Twenty teams competed at the FIRST Lego League Regional Competition held at
Central Ohio Technical College on Ohio State University's Campus in Newark on December 8. Team Synergy represented Blendon Middle School.

Coached by seventh grade science teacher Patrick Schubert, Blendon’s team of 7th and 8th graders earned the Research Award for their study into Alzheimer’s. The Research Award recognizes a team that utilizes diverse resources to formulate an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the problem they have identified. The theme for this year was “Senior Solutions.”

The team presented and gave a demonstration at The Ohio School for the Deaf in November to help them prepare for their competition and to reach out about robotics and their research topic to the community.
The mission of FIRST Lego League is to stimulate interest in science and technology as well as to and teach them essential life skills. For more information, please visit www.firstlegoleague.org.
