On February 16, Westerville City School District staff, community members, business representatives and leaders bowled to support three local causes at the 19th annual Westerville Community Bowl-A-Thon.  This fun, friendly and sometimes competitive afternoon of bowling was hosted by the Westerville Scholarship Foundation, the Westerville Education Foundation and the Westerville Symphony.  The three non-profit organizations utilize money generated by the Bowl-A-Thon to fund scholarships to students of all ages, provide grants to educators and offer musical performances and programs to classrooms in Westerville.

More than 400 bowlers, volunteers and guests were present at the event.  Nine principals bowled in the Principal Challenge, which was won, for the second year in a row, by Hanby Principal Monica Brown, whose school raised approximately $1,000 for the event.  The Golden Pin was awarded (also for the second year in a row) to Mike Farrar of Central Ohio Primary Care for winning the Executive Challenge.  He bowled an impressive 244 and won pizza-for-a-year certificates courtesy of Papa Johns.  All participants received event t-shirts, thanks to Status Solutions.

The Westerville Scholarship Foundation, the Westerville Education Foundation and the Westerville Symphony will each be receiving approximately $10,000.

Bowl-A-Thon organizers thanked their generous corporate sponsors and the two flights of teams who spent their Saturday raising money for the betterment of the Westerville community.
