Students search outside for things in nature that can be used to create patterns in clay.

Thanks to a partnership with Otterbein University, first grade students at Hanby Elementary School are getting lessons in ceramics.  Otterbein seniors Lyndsey Frantz and Jenna Gossett are visiting the youngsters four times this month to show them how ceramics are created, with special emphasis on texture.  “Glaze Mania” is the next lesson on tap.  When the classes conclude, each pupil will have a finished keepsake to take home.
