Friends and family members packed Hanby Elementary School on Wednesday evening, December 17, to watch fifth grade students star in a progressive performance entitled, “Stories through Time.”  Three plays took place concurrently in different locations in the building – Alice in Wonderland; Living Time Line; and Time Capsule.  Attendees rotated from site to site until they had experienced each one, all of which were connected through figurative language, incorporating many curricular standards for dramatic techniques and creative writing.

Overseeing the event were fifth grade teacher Tara Norling and Candace Mazur Darman, a Resident Artist from VSA Ohio, the state organization on arts and disability.  Hanby was one of 21 schools selected for the Adaptation, Integration and the Arts (AIA) residency program during the 2014-2015 school year.  AIA is supported by a grant from the Ohio Department of Education, Office for Exceptional Children and a contract for service with The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  Program administration is conducted in partnership with OhioDance and Ohio Alliance for Arts Education.
