Approximately 150 visitors roamed the hallowed halls of Hanby Elementary School on Saturday, November 9, to join in the celebration commemorating the buildings 90th birthday.  Historical displays were set up for viewing, old yearbooks and photographs were featured, individuals in period costumes were present, and a storybook created by Hanby students including children’s drawings of historical antidotes about Westerville High School was made available. Youngsters who attended got to participate in a craft project, and three birthday cakes were donated for everyone to enjoy.

Hanby, named for composer Benjamin Hanby, was dedicated as Westerville High School on November 9, 1923.  The building, located at 56 South State Street in Westerville, has served elementary, junior and senior high school pupils.  School representatives received a Resolution of Commendation from the Board of Education and Superintendent last month, when Hanby was lauded for nine decades of excellence in public education.
