Hanby Principal Dr. Jan Fedorenko, along with parent and PTA representative Amy Raubenault, accepted a Resolution of Commendation honoring Hanby for 90 years as an outstanding educational institution.
Hanby Elementary School, located at 56 South State Street in Westerville, marks a significant milestone this year as it celebrates 90 years as an educational institution. Dedicated as “Westerville High School” on November 9, 1923, the building, named for composer Benjamin Hanby, has served elementary, junior and senior high school pupils. School representatives received a Resolution of Commendation from the Board of Education and Superintendent at the Regular Session held October 28. Hanby was lauded for nine decades of excellence in public education which “has become a beloved landmark in the Westerville community and a place remembered fondly by students, staff and teachers.” The public is cordially invited to Hanby’s 90th birthday celebration on Saturday, November 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
