Hanby Sweeps Shade Tree Arbor Day Poster Contest by Earning Top Three Awards

Emma Fury, a fifth grade student from Hanby Elementary School, was selected as the First Grand Prize winner from entries submitted for Westerville’s annual Shade Tree Arbor Day Poster Contest.  The Second Grand Prize award was earned by Emily Hodges and Brandon Waebker and the Third Grand Prize award went to Mackenzie Madden, all from Hanby.

In addition, the first place award for Hanby was won for a poster created by Cara Jennings, Emma Secrest and Salmo Jama.  Hanna Marty’s poster received second place, while Laila Jones and Madie Poling’s poster received third place.  Leah Berger, Kenedy Witherow and Ted Lau were selected as the Honorable Mention winners from Hanby. 

The Westerville Shade Tree Commission will host a ceremony for all winners at the Everal Barn on Monday morning, April 29.  This event will be followed by a ceremonial tree planting ceremony at Hanby in honor of the first Grand Prize winner.
