Author and pet advocate David Cuccia, who wrote There’s a Crazy Dog Under the Palace, visited Hanby Elementary School on January 31.  He adopted his current rescue dog, Jasmine, from the Franklin County Animal Shelter, and she is the star of his latest book.  In lieu of payment for his visit, Cuccia asked that a donation be made to the Franklin County Animal Shelter.  Students responded by raising money and bringing in supplies from the organization’s Wish List.  A number of creative fund and supply-raisers were held, including Pajamas for Pets and Pennies for Pets.  Second graders raised money by making and selling homemade pet treats.
