Westerville City Schools is hosting an open house where families can learn more about the elementary’s magnet programs focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math; and World Cultures and the Arts

Emerson’s program focuses on World Cultures and the Arts while Hanby’s program focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). Both schools will have an open house on Thursday, Feb. 23 where families can tour each building and speak to teachers about the programs. Hanby’s event runs 5:30-6:30 p.m. while Emerson’s open house is 6-7 p.m.

Applications for the Magnet program will be available from Feb. 13 through March 13. Spots are limited so students are admitted to the program via a lottery. The district will identify incoming magnet students selected for seats in the program for the 2023-24 school year by March 17.

Families can identify a program choice and retain the right to refuse any seat that is offered as a result of the lottery. Notifications will be sent on or before March 24 to all Magnet program applicants to inform them of their status. For further updates, visit www.wcsoh.org/magnet.
