Pupils in Mara Clark’s third grade class at Emerson Magnet School got a special treat on Tuesday, January 20, when they enjoyed the first in a series of Parent Presentations, which give family members a chance to share their careers, passions and hobbies with the class.

Ellie Luba invited her grandfather to come and impart his experiences in the Army.  Larry Luba spoke about his years in the service and taught the class some interesting facts about the military. He brought along the medals he earned over the years, and let the students try on his gear.  His son, Sam, an Eagle Scout, also came along to teach the children how to properly fold the American flag.  A touching moment during the presentation occurred when Mr. Luba imparted his reverence for our country by explaining the significance of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  He spoke in depth about the training and discipline it takes to guard that sacred place.
