Emerson Elementary students enjoyed many special activities during International Education Week, which was held from November 18-22.  The events included two days of international presenters who shared the music, dance, and culture of 20 different countries including, Sri Lanka, India, Scotland, Afghanistan, Russia, France, Ireland, and Honduras.  On Wednesday, November 20, the children were engaged and entertained by Sogbety Diomande, a native of the Ivory Coast, who drummed and danced with students and staff.  His appearance, which was funded by the Emerson PTA, was made possible through the Columbus Arts Council’s Artists in the Schools program.   The week wrapped up with the traditional International Feast.  Emerson parents provided dishes from across the world for students to sample.  “It was a terrific, fun filled learning experience,” said Vicki Jarrell, Principal.
