Three Westerville students competed in the AAU Junior Olympic Nationals Track Meet in Houston on Aug. 2-7.

Shira Baumann, an eighth-grader at Blendon Middle School, placed 30th overall in the 200m hurdles, while William Baumann, a freshman at Westerville North High School, placed 4th in the 200m hurdles and 5th in the 100m hurdles in his age group. By placing in the top 8, he is considered an All-American by AAU in both competitions. He placed 33rd overall in the 200m dash. Andrew Smith IV, a freshman at Westerville South High School, placed 42nd in the 100m dash and 49th in the 200m dash.

All three are members of the Columbus Panthers Track Club. William Baumann was the state champion in the 110m hurdles for the Ohio High School Athletic Association state track and field meet for seventh- and eighth-graders last spring.
