The Westerville South High School Marching Band, conducted by John Laswell, enjoyed a successful string of performances last weekend.  The band braved cold temperatures to receive a Superior rating at the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) State Marching Band Contest held at Hilliard Bradley High School.  This is the highest rating given to marching bands in the OMEA circuit.  This is the third year in a row that the band has earned this distinction, and the fifth time in the past seven seasons.

South’s show is titled Retro, a love letter to 1980s music, film, video games, and culture.  The performance includes music from Back to the Future, Tears for Fears, TETRIS, Van Halen, Aha, and The Breakfast Club.
