The Rotary Club of Westerville, which sponsors a Student of the Month program, recognized recipients at a luncheon at Villa Milano held on Thursday, February 7.  February students are Drew Reed, Westerville Central High School; Kenadi Stevens, Westerville North High School; and Jewelia Smith, Westerville South High School.

The purpose of the program is twofold:  to recognize outstanding pupils who have distinguished themselves by serving their school and to expose them to the Rotary Club and its ideal of “Service Above Self.”  Students selected join Rotarians for lunch every week for a month, and have the opportunity to interact with members.

Math and Physics are favorite subjects of study for Westerville South High School senior Jewelia Smith.  She earned a 4.4 GPA.  She is a Black History Month production leader, Student Council President, and varsity softball Team Captain.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of Black Engineers.  She has volunteered with the Engineer for a Day Program, LEADing with STEM, W.A.R.M., the Kid’s Lunch Club and the Math Team.  Smith is a four-year academic letter recipient who has garnered numerous athletic, academic and character awards.  She is in the process of deciding which university to attend.
