Rotary Club of Westerville Names October Students of the Month

The Rotary Club of Westerville, which sponsors a Student of the Month program, recognized recipients at a luncheon at Villa Milano held on Thursday, October 4.  October students are She’Terria Sparks, Westerville Central High School; Megan Zody, Westerville North High School; Jude Pedrozo, Westerville South High School; and Michael Pallaci, St. Francis DeSales High School.  

The purpose of the program is twofold:  to recognize outstanding pupils who have distinguished themselves by serving their school and to expose them to the Rotary Club and its ideal of “Service Above Self.”  Students selected join Rotarians for lunch every week for a month, and have the opportunity to interact with members.  They also receive a $25 gift card.

English and American History are favorite subjects of study for Westerville Central senior She’Terria Sparks.  She holds a 3.7 grade point average (GPA) and participates in numerous extracurricular activities including Be the Change Club, National Honor Society, Junior Mentoring, and Key Club.  She is also an AP Student Ambassador and AP Boot Camp Leader, who earned an AP High 5 award.  Sparks volunteers at OSU’s main hospital and Alcott Elementary School, all while holding a managerial position at Chick Fil A, where she was named Employee of the Quarter.  After high school, she plans to further her education in the fields of English Literature and Education.

Westerville North High School senior Megan Zody earned a 4.5 GPA.  Math and Science are her favorite subjects.  She participates in the Warrior Athletic Leadership Team and National Honor Society, and is a Student Section Leader and Junior Mentor.  She also serves as a student representative for the Westerville Education Foundation and has volunteered at her church camp every summer, along with fundraising for Hurricane Harvey victims, at W.A.R.M. food drives and at school functions.  She was a scholar athlete for three years and earned three varsity letters for softball.  She is currently captain of the softball team.  Zody plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and a Physical Therapy degree in graduate school.

Jude Pedrozo holds a 4.6 GPA at Westerville South, where he enjoys the study of Math and Physics.  The senior plays varsity football, participates in National Honor Society activities, and volunteers for the FROSH program.  He also lends a helping hand at Neighborhood Bridges.  He is a four-year varsity letterman and Scholar-Athlete.  Pedrozo plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. 

Math, Science and Technology are senior Michael Pallaci’s favorite classes at DeSales, where he earned a 4.110 GPA.  School activities include football, baseball, Ski Club, Latin Club, Engineering Club, Future Medical Professionals Club, Run the Race Club, Ronald McDonald House Baking Club, Math Club, Chemistry Club, Italian Club, Corral for the Kids and Fraternitas.  He has volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, WARM, the Westerville Public Library and the De’Sales Summer Kids’ Camp.  He is also a Student Ambassador who greets prospective students and helps with open houses.  Pallaci earned the Jeff Stevens Technology Scholarship and a St. Francis DeSales four-year Renewable Merit Scholarship.  He is a National Honor Society Council member and made National Latin Honor Society as well.  He plans to major in Biomedical Engineering.
