The Rotary Club of Westerville, which sponsors a Student of the Month program, recognized recipients at a luncheon at Villa Milano held on Thursday, March 1.  March students are Princella Ackon, Westerville Central High School; Jacob Woods, Westerville North High School; Cherish Myers, Westerville South High School, and Anna D’Andrea, St. Francis DeSales High School.

The purpose of the program is twofold:  to recognize outstanding students who have distinguished themselves by serving their school and to expose them to the Rotary Club and its ideal of “Service Above Self.”  Students selected join Rotarians for lunch every week for a month, and have the opportunity to interact with members.

Princella Ackon is a senior at Westerville Central High School.  She has earned a 3.79 grade point average (GPA).  Honors Anatomy, AP Literature and AP Psychology are her favorite subjects of study.  She participates in varsity track and field and volunteered for the Black History and Arts Alive celebrations.  She also serves on the AP Student Panel and works as a media assistant.  Ackon is active in her church, having served as a youth leader at the Vineyard After School Program, Youth President at Charisma World, part-time crewmember at Wendy’s Ministry, and volunteer at the Global Café.  She has received Student of the Month awards twice.  Akon plans to attend Akron University next year and major in Exercise Science (Pre-Physical Therapy).
