The Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA), Ohio’s preeminent professional association for highly effective school librarians and libraries, has announced that Kristine Konik, library media specialist at Heritage Middle School in Westerville, is the recipient of the OELMA Leadership-in-Action Award.

The Leadership-in-Action Award recognizes Ohio school librarians pursuing active leadership roles in local schools, in OELMA, and in national professional organizations.  The award honors OELMA members demonstrating an ongoing commitment to leadership in the school library profession.

In her nomination letter, Susan D. Yutzey, past president of OELMA, noted, “Kristine Konik epitomizes how one would characterize leadership in action – deeply committed to the school library profession and passionate about lifelong learning and the joy it brings to students and colleagues.  She shares her expertise graciously and enthusiastically with her building, district and community.  As a member of the first OELMA Leadership Academy class, Kristine will bring her talents to the state and national scene for many years to come.”

Konik will be recognized at the 2018 OELMA Conference, October 24-26, at the Hilton Doubletree in Columbus.
