On Wednesday evening, May 2, parents and community members filled the commons area at Westerville South High School to listen to pupils share information about community service efforts that took place during the 2017-2018 school year.  Student leaders from each elementary school worked with advisors at their building throughout the year to complete one or more projects.  The youngsters created boards depicting their experience and the results they achieved.  In addition, they answered questions regarding the process, impact and charities that benefited from their work.  All endeavors were student-driven from selection to organization and completion.  The children focused on a wide range of activities from a school tutoring program to collecting money for Pennies for Patients.

The Community Service Fair was the culminating event of the Westerville City School District’s Elementary Leadership Program.   “All of the students were thoughtful about the projects they selected and clearly expressed why the project was important to the community,” said Barbara Wallace, Executive Director of Elementary Academic Affairs.
