Families gathered at Hawthorne Elementary on Thursday evening, April 5, to partake in the school’s Cultural Festival, a celebration of diversity within the building. Attendees experienced the delicious cuisine, beautiful art, fascinating textiles and inspirational music of many cultures. Countries represented were Ghana, Ecuador, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Bhutan, Somalia, Tanzania, Mexico, Morocco, Philippines and China. The PTO provided funds to purchase paper products, tri-fold boards and plastic ware. ESL teacher Lisa Fields organized the successful event, with help from many volunteers.
