The Spirit Book Club addresses the need to offer more culturally diverse learning materials in our schools. It provides “windows and mirrors” for all students through exposure to diverse books, specifically, Coretta Scott King award winners.

-Dr. Jill Williams

Students from Spirit Book Club were asked, "Why did you participate in the book club?"

“I thought it would be a fun experience and to meet new people.”

“I wanted to read more to help my reading and grades.”

“I wanted to read a different type of book.”

“It’s fun and there is no right or wrong answers.”

“I want to share my thoughts.”

Spirit Book Club meetings take place during the school day.  Students discuss the current book and participate in fun activities.  All students in grades 6, 7, & 8 are welcome!
