Government 1 & 2 E-Day Lessons:
- Watch the local news. Pick one story and answer the following questions to the best of you ability:
WHO did the story involve?
WHAT was the story about (what event happened)?
WHEN did it occur (day, date and time)?
WHERE did this event take place?
WHY was this story important to broadcast?
- Think about your day. From the moment you woke up, what rights have you enjoyed as a U.S. citizen? Pick 2 amendments from the Bill of Rights that have given you freedoms to do what you wanted today. Write which amendment you choose, and what you were able to do because you have this right.
(Example: you watched a documentary on terrorism. This right is given in the First amendment. It is freedom of press or freedom of speech. You were able to watch this movie because in the U.S., people are allowed to inform the public and express their opinions about political issues).
3. Identify one law that is enforced by the state of Ohio, and one law that is enforced by the federal government. Describe why states need individual powers, and why the federal government allows them to have these powers. (3 sentences)
