Vocabulary is an essential part of the2nd Grade Curriculum. Students who have a large vocabulary have higher levels of reading comprehension, reading fluency, and problem solving skills. It helps helps to improve spelling and writing with a variety of sentences as well as word choices.

To help students develop a richer vocabulary, our class works through weekly lessons from the book, "Scholastic, 240 Words Kids Need to Know". This book, published by Scholastic, is customized to Ohio's New Learning Standards and will help students become successful on the Ohio Achievement Assessment.

Watch for weekly Vocabulary words to come home on Mondays, and Vocabulary quizzes to come home on Fridays!
