News from Mrs. Gauen’s Kindergarten
Nov. 22, 2019
Please encourage your child to share their shoebox books with any family they may be visiting with over the holidays. Please encourage your child to continue to practice recognizing letters, sounds and sight words. Remember to remind your child to keep the letter and word rings in the reading bag so they don’t get lost. Also we have been practicing counting to 100 daily and recognizing the teen numbers. We have also been counting by 10s!!
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our canned fruit drive for WARM. Our collection ended today.
Next Tuesday we will have a Thanksgiving feast in the afternoon. Today we made Indian headdresses similar to ones the Wampanoag might have worn. On Monday we will make Pilgrim hats to wear on feast day. Our feast will include cornbread that we make in class, homemade butter, carrots, celery, cranberry sauce that the children prepared today, popcorn and a slice of turkey. Many of you saw the sign up I posted on the door or emailed me after reading last week’s newsletter and I appreciate your willingness to help with donations. If you volunteered to donate something for that day it is listed here___________________________________.
When we return from Thanksgiving Break we will spend the week reading different versions of The Gingerbread Man, including The Gingerbread
Girl. We will compare the stories and their characters. The week will culminate by making our own gingerbread cookies….and we will hope they stay in the oven and don’t run around the school. ☺
Have a great weekend and a Wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!
