     Hello!  My name is Laura Kerns.  I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor's Degree in both elementary and special education.  This is my fourth year of teaching 4th grade at Alcott.  I began my career in Wilmington, Ohio teaching special education in 1996 followed by teaching second grade for two years.  I was a third grade teacher at Alcott for 13 years.  I also earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from University of Dayton.  I love teaching and working with children in the classroom setting!  It is most rewarding for me to see children blossom throughout the year both academically and socially!
     Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I am married to Ryan, and we are proud parents of our son, AJ, who is nine years old and our daughter, Jenna, who is six years old.      
     I am very excited to have this website available for you to view!  As you already know from curriculum night, I am a strong believer in parent-teacher communication.  This will be one more tool for us to utilize for communicating.  Our class is already off to a great start of the school year.  I am looking forward to continuing to have a wonderful fourth grade year together!
