Students and families in the Westerville City School District are invited to the annual First Time Riders event on Saturday, July 31, at Whittier Elementary School from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

The First Time Riders event, which first launched in 2008 and is organized by the Westerville City School District's Transportation Department, provides students and families an opportunity to become familiar with and acclimated to a school bus and the MyVan vehicle. This exciting event gives attendees a chance to explore a school bus and MyVan up close, learn about bus safety, ride in a real school bus or MyVan with their parent/guardian, learn about school bus mechanics through hands-on activities, and meet Buster the Bus. This annual event is open to any student who might ride a bus or MyVan for the first time or who is apprehensive about the school transportation experience.

Whittier Elementary is located at 130 E. Walnut St. in Westerville.
