More Information Due to Otterbein University’s selection as host of the next Democratic National Debates, the Westerville City School District (WCSD) has announced a 90-minute early release for October 15, 2019. Officials from WCSD, Otterbein University, and the Westerville Division of Police have been working closely to determine the event’s possible impact on school district operations that day. Planned street closures and the potential for other street closures to take place will impact the district’s transportation services that afternoon. After considering various options, all parties have determined that the best course of action for the district is to continue with school that day, but to release students 90 minutes earlier than normal. The district will follow the same procedures it uses in the event school is closed early due to weather conditions. Therefore, on Tuesday, October 15, 2019:
Extra-curricular activities on that day will still take place after school; coaches and advisors will be responsible for communicating any schedule changes with participating students and their families. Parents and guardians of Westerville City School District students are encouraged to plan accordingly for this day. Though school is being dismissed early, road closures and changing traffic patterns likely will cause delays in bus routes. The Westerville Police Department has informed district officials that they will assist school buses in navigating road closures so they can complete their routes as quickly and efficiently as possible. Families are also reminded that the early release originally scheduled for October 17, 2019, has been changed to November 14, 2019. |
