A multitude of community members gathered at the former Central College Elementary school, located at 825 South Sunbury Road, on Sunday afternoon, October 13, for an official Gator Good-Bye.  The building will be demolished in the near future.  The event, which was organized by past PTA members, included the digging up of a time capsule from 2009; photo displays, cake and cookies.  Visitors were allowed to walk through the building and view memorabilia and pictures from past school events, as they reminisced.

Central College was built by Blendon Township in 1923.  The original building had six rooms.  In 1953, an addition added other classrooms, a cafeteria/auditorium and offices.  The school became part of the Westerville system on April 5, 1955, when Blendon Township Trustees surrendered control of the building.  It closed following the 2011-12 school year.  In recent years, the Child Development Council of Franklin County Inc. used the building as a Head-Start preschool location.
