Students at Hawthorne got to participate in a wide variety of team building activities designed to bring them closer together and promote school spirit.

Hawthorne Elementary celebrated the new school year with team building activities for grades three, four and five.  Each group spent one afternoon during the first week of school rotating through five stations of activities where they had to work together and encourage each other to complete different tasks.  “It was a great way for students and teachers to connect and get to know each other before the academics set in,” said school counselor Jenny Scherer.  Fifth graders were treated to a Welcome Back Cookout hosted by parent volunteers, the school counselor, and the administrative team.

Hawthorne, under the new leadership of Principal Ernest Clinkscale, is focusing efforts this year on building a strong bridge between school and community.
