Dear Hawthorne Families:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of an incident that disrupted operations to the start of our school day this morning. At approximately 7:30 a.m. we were notified by construction workers that a gas line was hit behind Hawthorne. Fearing a gas leak, construction workers immediately contacted the authorities and we evacuated students and staff. The gas service was turned off and the Fire Department released our staff and students to return to the building.

The safety and security of your children is one of our top priorities here at Hawthorne Elementary School. We will always err on the side of caution to ensure that our staff and students are cared for safely and appropriately.

As always, please feel free to contact me at 614-797-7130 should you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Ernest Clinkscale

Principal
