Students got a lesson in slimy science when COSI (Center of Science and Industry) brought its traveling program, It’s Simply Chemistry, to Cherrington Elementary School on January 9.  This innovative, interactive program allowed youngsters to explore chemistry through hands-on experimentation. The day began with an all-school assembly designed to introduce the children to chemistry and build excitement around science.  With the help of their COSI educator, pupils worked to become “Certified COSI Chemists” by identifying mystery substances, revealing secret messages, and investigating chemical reactions.  Their reward for completing the course was a hands-on activity session where they explored nine new chemistry experiments, including the famous COSI Super Slime.

The program was paid for through the generous support of the PTA, which also provided enthusiastic volunteers to operate each activity station.  Principal Andy Heck expressed his gratitude to everyone who played a role in making the day a memorable one.
