The Westerville South High School Marching Band, directed by John Laswell, enjoyed a successful string of performances last weekend.  The band braved the rain, freezing temperatures, and high winds to receive a Superior rating at the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) State Marching Band Contest held at Hilliard Bradley High School High School.  This is the highest rating given to marching bands in the OMEA circuit.  This is the second year in a row the group has earned this distinction.

South’s show this year is titled Regenesis, described as “an exploration of what is possible.”  Viewers are asked to contemplate their daily lives, where they find themselves constrained by norms and what is expected of them.  They are the cogs and gears that have a single purpose – to be part of The Machine.  But what if they broke free?  Would chaos follow?  Or would something even more beautiful occur?

The band concludes their 2018 season on November 3 at Mason High School at the 2018 MSBA Class AAAA Championships, where they hope to be a finalist.   A band banquet will be held on November 12
