It is technically called a Walk-a-Thon, but very few energetic elementary students actually walk. High temperatures and humidity did not stop Robert Frost Elementary School pupils from sprinting around the track at Westerville North High School on September 14, where they tried to raise a lofty $12,000 from sponsors for their school. Unobtainable goal? Not for these youngsters! When the dust settled, they brought in a whopping $14,800. Money raised will be used for things like funding field trips, classroom parties, supplies, health and safety programs; providing and maintaining playground equipment; sponsoring school celebrations; providing student planners and teacher meals at conference times; and covering expenses for Invention Convention, GEM and Reflections competitions.
As a reward for their effort, Principal Sarah Berka will be “turned into an ice cream sundae” during an assembly on September 28.
