Blendon Middle School pupils celebrated the 4th Quarter 2017-2018 Renaissance Awards program by enjoying an afternoon of swimming at the Jaycee Pool on August 28. As an extra-special bonus, Skyline Chili served free chili cheese dogs to all students for lunch at the pool. Kona Ice was on hand, too, to help them cool down after a fun day in the sun. Pupils had to meet stringent goals in academic achievement, community service, attendance, attitude, and school spirit in order to qualify.
Each quarter, qualifying youngsters receive a certificate for their accomplishment. They are also entered into a raffle to win prizes donated by local businesses, the Blendon PTO, parents and former Blendon parent Carla Tedeschi. Prizes include Renaissance t-shirts and gift cards from City BBQ, Chiller Ice Rinks, Cold Stone Creamery, Cucinova, Dairy Queen, Donato’s Pizza, Fazoli’s, Frisch’s Big Boy, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Marcus Theatres, Rockin’ Jump, and Smashburger. The Grand Prize was a $50 gift card from Star Lanes Bowling.
This marks completion of the 8th year of Blendon Renaissance Awards Programs.
