Earlier this year, the Strawberry Farms Neighborhood Association applied for and received a Neighborhood Pride grant through the City of Columbus.  The Neighborhood Pride Program helps local communities with things like home inspections, repairs, bulk trash pickup, and fire hydrant painting.  As part of that program, the City of Columbus arranged a Neighborhood Pride Bicycle Safety Festival, which was held at Hawthorne Elementary School on Thursday, May 10.  Students there learned about bicycle safety and each pupil received a free bike helmet provided by the City of Columbus.   In addition, employees from Columbus Parks and Recreation, the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Columbus Police and Fire were present to educate the youngsters about their programs.  “This was a wonderful opportunity for our students,” said appreciative principal Angela Ervin.
