Westerville Parent Council Awards Nine $500 Scholarships to Outstanding Seniors

At the final meeting of the Westerville Parent Council (WPC) for school year 2017-2018, held Wednesday morning, May 16, nine graduating seniors received $500 scholarships.  A committee of 12 scored the more than 300 applications, which were judged on achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership, community and volunteer service, and financial need. 

Westerville Parent Council Scholarships were received by Safia Hersi and Josh McDaniel, Westerville Central High School; Jackson Nixon and Ryan Thompson, Westerville North High School; and Nadra Haji Suleyman and Hunter McCune, Westerville South High School.  South’s Aidan Carmichael earned the Scholarship for Exceptional Students and North’s Katerini Soisson was awarded the Scholarship for Making a Difference.  The Technical Scholarship went to North’s Jodi Shelton. 

WPC unifies 34 student support organizations, including PTAs, PTOs, Booster Groups and Community Groups in the Westerville City School District under one “umbrella” and provides an avenue for collaboration, support and the sharing of district-wide information to help ensure that families are engaged and connected in Westerville schools.
