March 2 is the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day, a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books.  The Westerville City School District’s Early Learning Center got a jumpstart on the initiative by bringing in a number of guest readers to share favorite books with enthusiastic preschoolers on March 1.  In addition to district personnel and School Board members, representatives from Teamwork & Basketball Tricks stopped by to read, along with WBNS 10 TV on-air personnel, an environmental educator from Inniswood, and an Otterbein theatre student.  Many schools in Westerville have planned special reading activities today.
