February15 was a busy day for third grade Hanby Elementary School student Jazlyn Edwards.  That’s because she won her school’s Principal for the Day Raffle.  In addition to being excused from classes and homework for the day, Edwards shadowed Principal Monica Brown.  Her schedule included leading morning announcements, judging a Valentine’s Day design box challenge, attending a business luncheon, and meeting with Superintendent John Kellogg.  Edwards also helped determine if there would be indoor or outdoor recess (based on district guidelines), conferred with teachers and students, and observed in classrooms.

Hanby raised $776 from the sale of $1 Principal for a Day raffle tickets.  Combined with other fundraising efforts, the school was able to donate at whopping $1,042 to the Community Bowlathon, which raises money for the Westerville Education Foundation, Westerville Scholarship Foundation and Westerville Symphony.
