Dr. Lisa Huelskamp recently lectured at The Ohio State University.
On Thursday, February 15, Dr. Lisa Huelskamp was a guest lecturer at The Ohio State University’s STEM Education Program Seminar. She is a three-time graduate of OSU and currently works as a Middle School Gifted Education Facilitator at Westerville City School District. Dr. Huelskamp shared her knowledge about differentiation and classroom management. Instructional strategies for implementing tiered assessments, cubing, and multi-level questioning strategies were provided. Resources were also shared, including
- A priming activity to use at the beginning of the school year to help students understand the purpose of differentiated instruction,
- Readings about grading and assessment in a differentiated classroom,
- Teaching strategies for ELs and gifted learners,
- Differentiation self-assessment, and
- Bloom’s Taxonomy flip charts.
Dr. Huelskamp modeled several classroom management and differentiation strategies including the use of question and answer sticky notes to facilitate student discourse.
