Mark Twain Elementary School Service Club members, and their families, made their way to a building in Clintonville’s Graceland Shopping Center on Friday evening, February 9, to fill care packages for the Marine Corps Family Support Community (MCFSC).  To support this effort, in recent weeks, the students made cards for deployed military during their lunch recesses and held a school-wide collection drive to collect snacks and personal items for the troops.  Parent volunteer Melissa Rex accepted a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the service club, from MCFSC representative Cathy Noskowiak.

The Mark Twain Service Club, open to pupils in grades 3-5, was formed in 2014 by a few PTA parents who were seeking service opportunities for their children.  In addition to the MCFSC, the students have enjoyed supporting the Westerville Area Resource Ministry (W.A.R.M.), the Ronald McDonald House, Honor Flight, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a local nursing home, and others in their school and community during the past several years.  The club is sponsored and funded by the Mark Twain PTA, organized by parent volunteers, and greatly supported by teachers and staff.
