The Rotary Club of Westerville, which sponsors a Student of the Month program, recognized recipients at a luncheon at Villa Milano held on Thursday, January 18.  January students are Allen Rolph, Westerville North High School; and Nadra Haji-Suleyman, Westerville South High School.

The purpose of the program is twofold:  to recognize outstanding students who have distinguished themselves by serving their school and to expose them to the Rotary Club and its ideal of “Service Above Self.”  Students selected join Rotarians for lunch every week for a month, and have the opportunity to interact with members.

Westerville North High School senior Allen Rolph holds a 3.45 grade point average (GPA).  His favorite subjects of study are history and science.  He is active in Marching Band and Drama Club, and participates in Westerville Athletic Leadership Team events.  He attended Buckeye Boys State and the Westerville North Leadership Summit, and serves as a Junior Mentor.  Rolph will major in Political Science at the University of Cincinnati.

Nadra Haji-Suleyman holds a 3.98 GPA at Westerville South, where she is a senior.  Science and Literature are her favorite subjects, and she is involved in Cats for Unity, Minorities for Scholars and Student Advisory.  She is a Key Club member who volunteers with a number of non-profit organizations.  Haji-Suleyman was named a Cat with Class and Student of the Month.  She serves on the Principal’s Advisory and has earned academic honors.  She is interested in attending Otterbein University or Barnard College.
