Sixth grade students Aiden Montgomery and David Simms were the two finalists in the 2018 Walnut Springs Middle School Geography Bee. They competed against 34 other semifinalists to become the finalists. Each Social Studies class, which included all students at Walnut Springs, held four qualifying rounds on January 4 to narrow the field to the 34 semifinalists. The Championship Round came down to Montgomery and Simms, who went head-to-head for three questions. In the end, Montgomery was crowned the 2018 Walnut Springs Geography Bee Champion. He will take an online test in an attempt to qualify for the National Geographic State Bee.
