Last month, Student Council members at Hawthorne Elementary School organized a pet supply drive to benefit animals at the nearby Citizens for Humane Action shelter. Over the course of two weeks, pupils collected a whopping 869 items, including dog and cat food, blankets and towels. Student Council officers walked to the shelter on December 19 to deliver the much-appreciated donation.
