Westerville North High School held its first annual All-Sports Recognition Ceremony for fall 2017 athletes on Wednesday evening, November 15. Parents, student-athletes, North administrators, and fall head coaches were on hand as awards were announced in front of a filled Warrior Performing Arts Center. Nearly 250 fall student-athletes received scholar-athlete awards for earning a 3.3 or higher grade point average (GPA) for the first quarter of the 2017-18 school year. Girls’ soccer won the team GPA award with a collective 4.21 GPA average. Girls soccer player Katie Moc won the first ever “Comeback Warrior” award, given to a fall athlete who suffered a tough injury or setback, yet battled back to join their team with perseverance and a team-first mentality. The “Warrior Identity” award went to four fall athletes who showed great coachability, commitment, and a consistent attitude and effort – Jimmy Mendiola (boys soccer), Courtnee Murphy (girls soccer), Reese Herrell (girls’ cross-country), and Jacob Woods (football). Members of the Warrior Athlete Leadership Team nominated the finalists.
The winter All-Sports Recognition Ceremony will take place at North on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.
