In April, $42,000 worth of renovations were completed in Westerville North High School’s weight room, thanks to time and money provided by many volunteers who worked tirelessly to provide outstanding training opportunities for student athletes.  On June 12, the Westerville City Schools Board of Education approved a Resolution of Endorsement for naming the new facility the Ron Balconi Strength Room.

From 1975 to 1995, North’s football team, led by Coach Ron Balconi, compiled an overall record of 160-56-1 with six Ohio Capital Conference titles and four state playoff appearances.  During six different seasons, Balconi was named the Central District Coach of the Year, and in 1980, he coached the Ohio All-Star Team, comprised of top players in the state.

On June 16, friends, family members, colleagues and admirers gathered with retired coach and educator Ron Balconi to christen the new weight room space the Balconi Strength Room.
