Grace Brown speaks to sixth grade girls about STEM careers.

Walnut Springs Middle School girls in grades six and seven were invited from advanced math and science classes to talk ‘Girl2Girl’ during two lunch periods on May 17 with Grace Brown, a Heath High School student who shared her experiences in her pursuit of a neurobiology degree.  Brown is the current Miss Northwestern Ohio Outstanding Teen 2017.  She discussed gender-based stereotypes, breaking barriers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) classes, national statistics on career paths in STEM, and being well rounded as a student and individual.

Girl2Girl, founded by Brown, is a program designed to inspire middle school girls to explore their talents in STEM and expose them to female STEM professionals so they may be encouraged to seek additional learning opportunities and mentorships in preparation for careers in these fields.
