Westerville North High School Principal Kurt Yancey announced today that Caitlin Kilbane has been selected as the new Head Coach of the Westerville North High School Softball Program.  Kilbane was approved at the Westerville City Schools Board of Education meeting on August 22 and is a 2010 graduate of Westerville North, where she was a four-year letter winner in varsity softball.  She followed up her stellar career at North by attending Kent State on a softball scholarship. Following her four year career for the Golden Flashes, Kilbane stayed on as a student assistant at Kent for one year.

This past season, Kilbane assisted long-time Warriors softball coach Joe Francisco during his final season as coach.  Francisco, Kilbane’s coach at North, retired in the spring after 26 years as head coach.

North athletic director Wes Elifritz said the choice was unanimous amongst the interview committee.  “Caitie comes in as our new coach highly recommended by Coach Francisco and members of our softball community.  We are very excited for the future of our softball program and are confident our student-athletes who play softball are in good hands with Caitie.”

Kilbane is currently a health and physical education teacher at Walnut Ridge High School in the Columbus City School district.
