This special Hawthorne competition brought out the fashionista in a number of young pupils.
Hawthorne Elementary School children participated in a Trash to Fashion event on Wednesday, March 23. Ten teams presented a number of unique fashions which were judged by School Board member Tracy Davidson, volunteer Linda Ferguson and representatives from Ohio Reading Corps. Student creations were judged on the following criteria:
- Materials: at least 90% trash/recyclable materials
- Innovation: How innovative and original was the idea?
- Visual Impact: Did the outfit demand attention?
- Construction & Design: How did the garment hold up under judging/moving?
Bonus points were given for adherence to school dress code, sizing, and incorporation of this year’s theme, Technology. Winners advanced to the Starry Night Trash for Fashion contest.
