Central’s Lauren Tucker Makes Top 10 in GROOVE U High School Battle of the Bands

Lauren Tucker, a freshman at Westerville Central High School, has been selected as one of 10 semifinalists (and one of two solo acts) in the 2016 East Instaband Central Ohio High School Battle of the Bands. 

Tucker and the other semifinalists will be competing on Friday, February 5 at GROVE U’s Creative Campus, located at 1300 Forsythe Avenue in Columbus.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the Instafan Expo and performances begin at 7:00 p.m.  Cost at the door is $5 per person.  The winning band will receive a recorded EP, music video, graphic design and booking support. 

GROOVE U is a revolutionary two-year music business career program located in Columbus.  Led by 20-year music industry veteran Dwight Heckelman, GROOVE U focuses on a career-centered approach to learning developed by active industry professionals.  The guiding philosophy of the program is that the music industry is creatively engaged, apprenticeship based and relationship driven.  The full-time program offers small, personalized classes with both a broad, solid foundation and specialized areas of study in live music, production, business, video and interactive.  The school officially opened its brand new 30,000-square foot campus in September 2012, and is currently enrolling for Fall 2016.
