On January 20, 263 Blendon Middle School students celebrated their academic and community service achievements, which qualified them for the 2nd Quarter 2015-2016 Renaissance Awards.  In order to participate, pupils must meet high standards in academics, community service, attendance, attitude, and school spirit.

Each quarter, at an awards ceremony, qualifying students receive both a certificate for their accomplishment, and a tangible reward donated by various local businesses.  This time, each pupil received coupons from First Watch, Raising Canes Chicken, Skyline Chili, and Little Caesar’s Pizza.

Blendon students continued to celebrate with a variety of wonderful raffle prizes, again donated by local businesses and PTO parents, including Renaissance t-shirts from the Blendon principal, gift cards from Cheryl’s Cookies, Chiller Ice Rink, City BBQ, Cold Stone Creamery, Columbus Square Bowling Palace, Dairy Queen, Donato’s Pizza, Little Caesar’s, Marie Scrambler’s, Old Skool Skateboards, Rita’s Italian Ice, Westerville Recreation Center, and former student Christopher Tedeschi.  The Grand Prize was a $50 gift card from Star Lanes Bowling.  Following the awards presentation, students spent the rest of the day enjoying skating, laser tag, and video games at Skate Zone 71.

The 2015-2016 school year marks the 6th year for the Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, which would not be possible without the continued support of local and national businesses, Blendon parents, and the Blendon PTO.
