Westerville Central seniors played the sophomores under the lights in the Powderpuff championship game.
Westerville Central High School’s varsity boys’ football team aren’t the only ones who can pack a stadium. That was proven on Friday evening, November 6, when some 400 fans turned out to watch and cheer for female students who played their hearts out in a Powderpuff flag football tournament to benefit Renaissance. The seniors won in the championship playoff game by a score of 14 – 8, but the biggest winners are Central pupils who will reap the rewards of the $2,000 that was raised for the program. The event was organized by Principal Todd Spinner, with assistance from secretary Barbara Coppens, and the Renaissance Team – student leaders who work to increase the academic, extracurricular and social atmosphere in and around Central High School. Spinner expressed his appreciation to the coaches who gave up their Friday night to help out on the field and in the press box – Jeff Keifer, David Mentlow, Anthony Forrest and Brent Morrison.
